Basic Siemens Programmable Logic Controller (PLC); Programming, Troubleshooting & Maintenance for S7-300 & S7-400

This hands-on course equips participants with the practical knowledge and skills required to program, troubleshoot, and maintain Siemens S7-300 & S7-400 PLC systems using STEP 7 (SIMATIC Manager). The training focuses on industrial maintenance, diagnostics, and real-world application of ladder logic, function blocks, and data blocks, as used in process and manufacturing environments.

Prerequisites: Basic PLC programming, Basic Siemens STEP 7 and Electrical / instrumentation fundamentals

Course objectives

  • Identify S7-300 & S7-400 PLC hardware components
  • Install and navigate STEP 7 / SIMATIC Manager
  • Configure hardware, racks, modules, and addresses
  • Create and edit programs using:
  • Ladder Logic (LAD)
  • Function Block Diagram (FBD)
  • Statement List (STL) — intro level
  • Work with OBs, FCs, FBs, and Data Blocks
  • Monitor and force I/O safely
  • Diagnose and correct hardware & software faults
  • Backup, restore, and maintain PLC systems
