AC Frequency Drives (Allen-Bradley & Siemens): Operation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting

This course provides participants with practical knowledge and skills to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot AC frequency drives (VFDs/AC Drives) from both Allen-Bradley (PowerFlex series) and Siemens (SINAMICS / Micromaster series). Participants will gain a clear understanding of drive operation, motor control, fault diagnosis, preventive maintenance, and integration with PLC and automation systems. The program combines theory with hands-on exercises, including parameter programming, drive commissioning, fault simulation, and real-world troubleshooting.

Duration: 3 days
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of AC motors and industrial electrical systems, Familiarity with PLC and industrial automation concepts is advantageous and Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical manuals

Course objectives

  • Understand the principles of AC motor control using variable frequency drives
  • Operate Allen-Bradley and Siemens AC drives safely and effectively
  • Configure drive parameters for speed, torque, and protection settings
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot common electrical, mechanical, and communication faults
  • Integrate AC drives with PLC and automation systems for process control
  • Implement energy efficiency measures using VFDs
  • Ensure safe operation in industrial environments
